Wandering merchants are people like the Beedle. They wander around in Hyrule and you can buy and sell things with them. Each merchant has different things and different times (e.g. rain) so check them out whenever you come across them. Merchants like the Beedle stay in certain locations like stables making them easy to locate. Note that the Beedle sells different things in different stables.
